The Institute of Viral and Liver Disease

U1110

Research at U1110 focuses on the hepatitis C virus (HCV), the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), all with major consequences on public health worldwide.

The complications linked to chronic infection and the lack of effective vaccines against HCV and HIV renders the search for novel preventive and therapeutic treatments imperative.

By exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying virus-host interactions including early stages of viral infection, genome replication and the assembly of viral particles we are searching for candidate molecules of clinical interest.

We are establishing unique synergies through a joint program with the University of Strasbourg and the University Hospitals of Strasbourg, for the discovery of novel targets for the development of preventive and therapeutic strategies against various viral infections.
